On January 8, 2011 my delightful, curious, and beautiful nine-year-old daughter, Christina-Taylor Green, attended a Congress on Your Corner event at a neighborhood shopping center in Tucson where she was shot and killed.
She attended the event with her neighbor in the hopes of meeting Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. An exceptional 3rd grader, Christina-Taylor had just been elected to the student council and knew already that she wanted to be the first female President of the United States. In the parking lot of Safeway that day, a gunman opened fire injuring 13 people and killing six. One of those six was my dear Christina-Taylor.
Born on September 11, 2001, she was brought into the world on a tragic day and left on another one. Christina-Taylor wanted to grow up to help others and now she’s gone forever. I feel her loss everyday. I will always love her.
